Doran C. James, is a Partner and Co-Founder of Wyoming Wealth Management
I started my career as a financial advisor with E.F.Hutton in 1987 here in Rock Springs. Through a series of buyouts and mergers the company morphed into Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. On 11-11-11 I left MSSB, the banksters (like gangsters), and co-founded Wyoming Wealth Management.
Where it all began:
I was born near Lincoln, Nebraska. My parents moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in the late 50’s. My family moved around, so I was raised in Grand Junction, Montrose, Gunnison and Clifton. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree from Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
After college, I was hired into the management program with Armco Steel. I was sent to Farmington, New Mexico, Midland, Texas, Cortez, Colorado and then to Evanston, Wyoming. When I hit Wyoming, I fell in love with the state! In 1987 I contacted E.F.Hutton in Rock Springs, Wyoming. They had an opening and I joined the team.
I have 4 sons. Two have graduated college and are married. One is in college and one in High School.
Rock Springs is a great place to raise children. Good schools and opportunities for kids. Over the years, the boys were able to participate in any extra-curricular activities that interested them. I have coached soccer and baseball. I’ve also helped with Boy Scouts, basketball and track. During my 20 years with the United Way, I have been on almost every committee, from Allocations to the Executive Board.
I enjoy Hiking, Elk hunting, Reading, Fishing, Boating, Water Skiing, Snow Skiing, Golf, Bowling, Disc Golf, Riding Horses, Dirt Bike, Snowmobiling and other miscellaneous activities.
Wyoming Wealth Management is a separate entity from LPL Financial.
